Birthday Boxes
Junior Beta students are creating Birthday Boxes for our food pantry. The boxes consist of a throw away cake pan, cake mix, frosting, decorations (both birthday and cake), and other small items that would put a smile on a child's face that may not otherwise have a cake.
Junior Beta Requirements
At McConnell, we invite 8th grade students based on academic performance and behavioral history. The requirements for receiving an invitation to join Beta are as follows: 90% grade average in all academics in 7th grade and no grade below an 80. Any students that have a discipline record in middle school will be reviewed by administration.
If you feel your child meets these qualifications, and you have not received an invitation, please contact Katie Parrish at [email protected] and it will be looked into.

What is Junior Beta?
Junior Beta is a service organization. The mission is: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
Community Service Hours
Please remember to track your community service hours. Forms are due in May.
Do you need some ideas for getting hours? Look no further! Here is a list that was generated by members of our own Junior Beta Club. There are many other opportunities as well...you don't have to choose just from this list.
- Harbins Fall Festival
- Lovin Movie Under the Stars
- Babysitting on PTA nights
- Church...help in the nursery, help with Sunday School, clean up the sanctuary, etc.
- Volunteer at the local Co-op (stock shelves, organize)
- Help teachers at other schools
- Work at the Gwinnett Animal Shelter or Humane Society
- Help at the library
- Help your neighbors (that you know!) with mowing the lawn, raking, cleaning, babysitting, etc.
As always, please make sure you have your parents' permission before engaging in any of these activities. Thank you for your service!

Box Tops and Campbell's Labels
Please bring in any Box Tops for Education and/or Campbell's Labels. Our school receives a credit for every one turned in.
Last year the Beta Club sorted, counted, and packaged over $3000.00 worth of Box Tops. Let's see if we can top that!
